Where you choose. SWISS.Ai deploys your AI agents in your own tenant, with data residency in Switzerland, the EU, the US or Canada, or on-premises. Your data is ingested into a private knowledge base, connected to your systems through audited, scoped and revocable APIs, and every agent action has an audit trail.
Where is my data hosted when I deploy AI agents with a Swiss provider?
A Swiss address on the provider's website does not tell you where your data will live. "Swiss provider" can mean many setups: a shared platform in a foreign cloud region, a hosted service in a Swiss data centre, or software that runs entirely on your side. Before you share details about your processes, it helps to know which of these you are buying.
At SWISS.Ai the answer is set per engagement, not by a platform. SWISS.Ai does not sell a SaaS platform and is not a chatbot vendor. It engineers a custom agent for your data, workflows and systems, and that agent runs where you decide.
The residency options, and who usually needs which
The swiss.ai site lists five data-residency options: Switzerland, the EU, the US, Canada and on-premises. Which one fits is a decision for your legal, compliance and IT teams. The table below shows the situations where each option typically comes up; it is a starting point, not legal advice.
| Option | Typically comes up when |
|---|---|
| Switzerland (CH) | Your customers, contracts or internal policy expect data to stay in Switzerland |
| EU | Your operations, customers or group entities sit mainly in the EU |
| US | The agent mainly serves your North American business in the US |
| Canada (CA) | The agent mainly serves Canadian operations or customers |
| On-premises | Data may not leave your own infrastructure at all |
The site puts it simply: your data can stay in Switzerland. If you choose on-premises, no data leaves your infrastructure.
Two practical points. First, decide early. Residency shapes how the agent is deployed, so it belongs in discovery, not at the end of the project. Second, one company can need more than one answer: a group with Swiss and EU entities may want different processes handled under different rules. If you want the legal background first, our article on data privacy and Swiss and European standards covers it.
"Deployed in your tenant": what that means in practice
The sixth and last step of the SWISS.Ai pipeline is production: the agent is deployed in your tenant. On the site this means the agent goes live inside your own cloud tenant or your on-premise infrastructure. SWISS.Ai does not host client agent workloads.
In practice, that has three consequences:
- Your environment, your data. The agent runs in your own tenant or infrastructure, not on shared infrastructure the provider rents out. The site's short version is "Your tenant, your data".
- Full audit trails. Every agent action is recorded, so you can see what the agent did and when.
- Human-in-the-loop where needed. Steps that need a person's approval, because of the process or a regulation, get an approval gate before the agent acts.
After go-live, the system is either co-managed with SWISS.Ai or handed over to your team.
Before production, the data step happens earlier in the pipeline: documents, tickets, CRM history and product specs are ingested and structured into a private knowledge base that the agent works from.
How the agent reaches your systems: audited, scoped, revocable APIs
Hosting is only half of the question. The other half is what the agent can reach once it runs. In step four of the pipeline, the agent is connected to systems such as Salesforce, SAP, Bexio, Abacus, Microsoft 365 and Slack through audited, scoped and revocable APIs:
- Audited: the connections are audited, so access can be reviewed.
- Scoped: the agent gets the minimum permissions it needs, not broad access to a whole system.
- Revocable: access can be revoked when it is no longer needed.
This matters as much as the hosting region. An agent hosted in Switzerland with unlimited access to your ERP is a bigger risk than one with narrow, reviewable permissions. For a deeper look at how agents connect to enterprise systems, read MCP: How AI Agents Connect to Your Enterprise Systems.
What to ask any AI provider about hosting
Whether you work with SWISS.Ai or another provider, these questions make the answer concrete:
- Where exactly does the agent run? In your tenant, in the provider's environment, or on a shared platform?
- Which residency options are available, and can different processes use different ones?
- Where does the knowledge base live, and who can access it?
- Which systems will the agent connect to, with which permissions, and how is access withdrawn?
- Is every agent action logged, and can your team read those logs?
- Which steps need a human approval before the agent acts?
- What happens after go-live: who operates the system, and can it be handed over to your team?
A provider who answers these in writing before the project starts gives your compliance team something concrete to review. For a wider checklist, see How to Choose the Right AI Agent Provider.
FAQ
Can my data stay in Switzerland?
Yes. Switzerland is one of the data-residency options SWISS.Ai offers, next to the EU, the US, Canada and on-premises. Settle which one applies in discovery, at the start of the project.
Can you deploy on-premises?
Yes. The agent can go live inside your own on-premise infrastructure instead of a cloud tenant. If you choose on-premises, no data leaves your infrastructure.
Whose cloud tenant does the agent run in?
Yours. The agent is deployed in your own cloud tenant or on-premise infrastructure. SWISS.Ai does not host client agent workloads.
How does the agent access our systems?
Through audited, scoped and revocable APIs. The agent gets only the minimum permissions it needs, the connections are audited, and access can be revoked.
How long does a deployment take?
4–12 weeks, depending on the engagement. We explain the six steps in How Long Does It Take to Implement a Custom AI Agent in an Enterprise?
